A Summer of Adventure and Discovery for Young People

This summer, Toujours ensemble (TE) offered Verdun youth an unforgettable experience combining entertainment, education, and discovery. With a dynamic formula that runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday – and even includes evening activities for teens – TE captured the enthusiasm of 239 young participants, setting another record for the number of youths enrolled.

The varied, supervised activities included games, sports, arts and culture, and took place both at TE and in places frequented by young people from Verdun-Ile-des-Sœurs. The teens were treated to exciting urban and cultural excursions. In addition, Friday outings, including visits to the movies, the Olympic swimming pool, the Biodome and more, broadened their horizons.

Events tailored to youngsters aged 9-13 drew a total of 165 participants, with 40% of them originating from immigrant backgrounds and being fluent in a variety of languages, including English, Spanish, and Arabic. The teen-focused programs (ages 13-17) welcomed 74 adolescents from diverse cultural origins. Notably, a significant 56% of these teens who took part in our activities had recently immigrated to Canada.

Camping trips and special outings such as “Nuit Blanche” (an overnight stay at Toujours ensemble) strengthened the bonds between the participants. Parents also expressed their satisfaction, with one saying: “My daughter has had a great summer! The staff is dedicated and professional. Thank you for all your support!”

The summer at Toujours ensemble was much more than a break from school. It was filled with smiles, learning and precious memories, a testament to TE’s commitment to the development of young people’s full potential.
